SMITHFIELD – Local party volunteer, Marshall Conrad from the Cleveland community was elected the chairman of the Johnston County Republican Party for the biennium Thursday night, with two-thirds of the delegates present casting a ballot in favor of his slate. The party convention was the largest in recent memory with 234 delegates and numerous guests, candidates, and observers in attendance.
